Pilisi Len Visitor Center - Pilisszentiván

in cooperation with Építész Stúdió - lead architect Richárd Hőnich

Territories of the Danube-Ipoly National Park (DINP) encompassing mountains, river valleys and plains spread out also in the vicinity of Budapest. DINP opened a new visitor center in Pilisszentiván, near the center of the settlement. The task was to provide a solution considering the natural fit into a residential village area and the function of a characteristic public facility. As a concept of extension, a new skin of wooden slat structure frames the extant white plastered core.

The section remained in residential scale, but the length of the house gathering new functions leaps to public facility scale. On sloping terrains the building line usually follows the gradient. In this case however, this traditional approach would have resulted in significant altitude difference between the two endpoints of the ridge. This was handled with a slight leaning of the ridge instead of slicing the volume (like in cases of further built traditional houses). This solution reserved the public building characteristic while keeping residential proportions on the end facades.

Silent Meditation Cabin - competition

in cooperation with Norbert Juhász

The core of our concept is to create a simple, neutral space in the nature and eliminate all bothering factors, both visually and physically. We created a cubic space which five sides are solid and protective while one is fully opened that gives the connection to nature. The space is elevated and is facing some visual highlight (e.g. the lake, a view, a composition of rocks, trees, etc.). The sixth wall could be fully opened so the connection to nature is not only visual but it becomes part of the space. Here one can cultivate his/her mind and soul: a place for meditation, clearing the mind or creating something meaningful. The space holds very few items: a cast iron stove in the corner (as making fire and heat could be a ritual and spiritual act), a handmade rug in the middle of the floor and a foldable, large table (that is stored under the bed by default).

The living space is connected directly to the meditation space which could only be reached through this area. This is the place for the earthly life of a human being. It accomodates a bed with a view to the forest, has some storage and a worktop for different activites (preparing meals, tea, packing, etc.). This is where one enters the cabin. It is meant to be a safet. secure, cosy space where one can relax and fulfill his/her needs as a person. It's size is smaller and the level of it is lower than the meditation space which relationship is visible both from inside and outside of the cabin.

Máramaros 13 Residential house, Óbuda

in cooperation with Formi Concept - Halmai Dénes, Bach Péter, Szodorai Tímea

The plot is located in Óbuda, on the side of Tábor Hill at Máramaros út, with an approximate 10% slope in a west-east direction. The existing building on the plot will be completely demolished. The building is designed with staggered half-levels to adapt to the sloping terrain, following the west-east slope of the plot. The ground level (+0.00) of the planned building is at 227.4 meters above sea level.

The functional levels are arranged as follows:
  • At -1.60 meters: Room/wellness and storage functions
  • At +0.00 meters: Living room+kitchen+dining area with direct garden access, southeast orientation
  • At +1.60 meters: A parking area for two cars will be built within the mass of the building on the western facade, and on this level, the entrance hall with all necessary functions is located.
  • At +3.20 meters: Parental bedroom with an adjoining wardrobe, bathroom, and a covered terrace facing east
  • At +4.80 meters: Children's rooms, adjoining bathroom, and a shared terrace facing west
  • At +6.40 meters: The study's proper design is subject to further planning, along with access to the rooftop terrace

The internal spatial relationships resulting from the staggered half-levels are clearly reflected in the building's mass. Transitional spaces, such as the entrance hall, garden connections, and terraces, are created subtractively, meaning they do not appear as added elements to the building's mass.

The exterior material usage is dominated by white structured plaster and anthracite/pastel grey powder-coated metal elements. The roofing structure with an 8.7° western slope is covered with standing seam metal roofing, which allows for the installation of solar panels within the continuous strips. The balcony and terrace railings are made of vertical steel rods. The terrace flooring material is thermally treated larch. The main garden pathways are made with natural stone stepping stones.

Residential house - Nagykovácsi

in cooperation with Balázs Keményfy

This family home is built on the side of a forest. With an L shaped construction it creates connected gardens on the site, each with a different level of privacy. Using the archetypical house form, it keeps friendly proportions. The living area has high interior space showing its wooden roof structure while the western side of the building keeps the opportunity for using the attic when the family is growing.

We used larch for terrace and facade covering, natural slate for roofing and kept the usage of concrete as low as much it was possible.

Residential building - Budapest, Svábhegy

in cooperation with V+L office, lead architects - László Vincze, Kornélia Parádi
The building's design takes advantage of the sloping terrain by staggering the levels of the apartments. Towards the street, it maintains a modest and reserved appearance, while it opens up with large, continuous window surfaces facing the garden. For energy efficiency, we incorporated passive shading architectural elements. The extended plates in front of the glazed facade provide shading on their own, complemented by an adjustable louvered shading system attached to the exterior glass surface. Together, these elements reduce the cooling energy required during the intense summer months.

When planning the new development, it was important to ensure that all four apartments on the plot have living spaces oriented towards the southeast or southwest. The construction consists of two interlocking cubic structures, each staggered by half a level on the terrain and containing two apartments. This design creates three garden areas with southern exposure, each staggered by 100-150 cm relative to each other. Two of these gardens are privately connected to the ground-floor apartments, while the third is designed for communal use.

Concept plan for Windsurfcenter and Marina at Gárdony

in cooperation with Vera Lőcsei

In this concept plan the goal was to settle a humanized and well organized space for the new Marina in Gárdony while keeping the coastline a public area. Our main focus was on the revitalization of the old pier in the water, which could serve as a pefrect spot for a windsurf center and a bar. We used a basic grid and a playful openable wooden facade system to host these two functions and ensure the transparency of the building from the shore.

Also we gave basic a basic concept for the Marina usage with placing just a reception and a water block on public area. Our concept ensures that marina can exist in a public space without closing a crucial recreational passage for the public users of the shore.

Crossfit box conceptual plan- Budajenő

The Crossfit box is a conceptual plan for a small-scale sports hall designed specifically for CrossFit activities. During the design process, the focus was on making the building highly functional for CrossFit while also creating a humanized space. The sports hall features a highly hierarchical wooden structure with large openings to its garden.

Thanks to the openings in the northern and southern walls, the activity space can be naturally lit and ventilated.

Precast Concrete Plant - Törökbálint

in cooperation with Facework, lead architect Balázs Pápay

Manufacturer's Hall - Insulated, vapor-tight, unheated steel structure hall building. Its two main parts are the single-space manufacturing section and the aging chamber. Within the manufacturing section, there is a heated, two-story building section with a workshop, storage warehouse, and staff department. The production of the products takes place in this building.

Mixer Platform The mixer platform is an auxiliary structure serving the operation of the manufacturing hall. In this structure, the appropriate mixing of raw materials is carried out with the help of dosing units and storage silos. The mixed raw material is then transmitted to the press machine from here.

Covered gravel storage A building covered from three sides and from above. It is constructed with reinforced concrete walls designed to store tens of tons of gravel. The gravel will be transferred from here directly to the three and four-compartment feeders.

Diploma work, Floating Urban Spaces on the Danube , Budapest

Like many other European cities located along rivers, Budapest also has a complicated riverbank connection. The main problem to be solved is to give people the opportunity to get to the waterfront. This may seem like an easy task, but at the moment there is no available public urban space in the inner city where you can get in touch with the Danube. In my project, I suggested the simplest solution for building an actual riverbank – Float It!

With a modular concrete pontoon system, it would be quite easy to set up a highly variable public space system on the Danube connected to the existing urban texture. It can also be fitted to the actual pretenses of the city. In the project, I detailed a station which consists of a pool, a dock, a floating bar, and a public space that can be used for any social gatherings. All of these, and any other function that fits this milieu, can be attached together in the desired order and floated on the Danube.
